Our New Library Building
An adaptable space made possible through community fundraising and local ingenuity.
The Whitehall Community Library officially moved into our new home at 18560 Scranton Street on October 10–11.
This building was made possible entirely through fundraising efforts. No tax dollars were used for construction.
The firms that helped make it happen...

SEH - Architects
The architects at SEH designed our building and then made the adjustments needed to keep the project on budget when COVID-19 caused production costs to skyrocket.

Weiser Bros - Construction Contractor
Thanks to Weiser Brothers flexibility we were able to make changes during the construction process and come in within budget and implement a design that is adaptable.
Built with Flexibility in Mind
Construction costs rose dramatically during the COVID-19 pandemic. To stay within budget, we reduced the building’s square footage by half and focused on maximizing usable space.
To make the most of every square foot:
- All shelving is on wheels for easy reconfiguration
- Many areas are designed as multipurpose spaces
This flexible design allows us to adapt the space for programs, events, and community needs.
Features of the New Library
Our new building includes:
- A cozy fireplace reading area
- A dedicated maker’s space
- A community room for programs and meetings
- A welcoming children’s area
We’re proud to offer a modern, adaptable space built to serve our community for years to come.
